Five|50 was founded on the belief that we can transform healthcare costs and address healthcare challenges in ways business leaders didn’t know possible. The ultimate outcome will benefit both business organizations and their employees.

The healthcare-industry employs armies of MBAs, consultants, data scientists, and lobbyists whose sole purpose is to maximize profits from employer-sponsored health plans. Companies like Deloitte, McKinsey, Accenture, and Optum work with hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and insurance companies to drive incredible profits.

We’ve discovered that a lack of understanding among business and organizational leaders regarding employer-sponsored healthcare plans is prevalent. At renewal time, most groups are faced with three straightforward yet challenging options: reduce benefits, increase employee contributions, or diminish profits.

Since the rate healthcare costs increase far exceeds the rate of inflation, it is fair to say that annual rate increases are someone else’s profit.

Unlike every other part of their business, decision makers have little or no control over their health care spending. There is little to no actionable data, no audit control, no ability to control cost or quality, and virtually no transparency. On the other side of the equation the health care industry has all the data, and controls all the processes to allow their companies to thrive.

We exist to bring this “information asymmetry” into balance so that decision makers are equipped with the tools that they need to make more solid and effective business decisions.
